With Spring on the doorstep get out in the garden! Gardening involves much walking, bending and stretching, it can help you become more flexible and mobile.
Small tasks such as watering plants with a watering can, or digging over the ground helps to strengthen muscles and bones and is also good for your heart and circulation. These resistance exercises can help prevent illnesses such as osteoporosis.
Gardening also helps you mentally and can be useful in coping with anxiety; there is something about being out and about in nature that refreshes you and helps to decrease stress levels!
Exerting yourself physically will help you drop off to sleep at the end of the day so you wake refreshed and raring to go the next morning. Give it a try and plant some seeds, the satisfaction of watching them grow will be worth all your effort, and could save you some money if you plant vegetables that you can eat through the year!
